Fantastic opportunity for Australian junior gliding students
Written by Anita TaylorBe the first to comment! Read more...
The Poznan Aeroclub (Poland) has been involved in a pioneer program of teaching gliding at their local secondary schools. Over 200 students from ages of 16-18yrs old have participated in these gliding courses. Each Autumn they organise a students’ camp at the Bezmiechowa mountain club.
After visiting Narromine on one of their club camps and experiencing the wonderful hospitality of Narromine Gliding Club, the Poznan Aeroclub have extended an invitation for Beryl Hartley and 4 young Australian gliding students to attend the camp from 21st-30th October 2011. They have generously offered to cover all expenses during the camp! All we need to do is get you there! The Sports Committee, with the help of Andrew Maddocks (NCC Junior Representative) is coordinating the applications and selection of up to 4 ‘Joeys’ to attend. If you are interested and:· Are 20 years old or under;· Have at least 5 hours solo;· Are able to take approximately 2 weeks off to attend the course; and· Have the support of your family/club:
Please contact Andrew Maddocks at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . He will provide you with application information. Information will also be available on the Joeyglide 2011 Facebook page and the Australian Junior Gliding Club website http://www.ajgc.org.au/
We are hoping to have equal numbers boys and girls: so we encourage all to apply, particularly if you are keen and/or progressing through your Certificates. GOOD LUCK! -
Winter OLC Competition
Written by Adam WoolleyBe the first to comment! Read more...
G'day All,
The OLC Winter competition is well and truly underway, would be awesome if everyone could do their best to submit all their traces in the lead up to the great event! I think this would be a great way to spur us all on while the beloved JoeyGlide isn't on, and to get us all together (even if it's only online and in spirit).
I'll make a prize available to award at the presentation night for the best placed junior (25yrs or less at the start of the JG) in the more and less than 200hr classes. If I can find enough sponsors, I'll endeavor to make 2nd and possibly 3rd place prizes available!
To make things interesting, there will also be a prize for the best description of the days soaring attached to an OLC flight claim!!
Hope you're all having a good Winter break so far :)Adam Woolley
